Boat Model - Aquarama

The Riva Aquarama is a luxury wooden yacht built by the infamous Italian yacht manufacturers Riva. Riva is a company founded by Pietro Riva in 1842 and is now part of the Ferretti Group, an Italian based multinational ship building company with almost 50 years’ experience in manufacturing luxury yachts and ships.

This particular yacht has become an icon amongst the nautical world following its release in 1962. Designed as a luxury runabout boat, she is a motor boat that can hold between 4 and 8 people, has great manoeuvrability and speed, and is used for such purposes as fishing, water-skiing and general leisure. At the time of her design, she was inspired by the Chris-Craft runabouts. Her unique and recognisable design features have led to her becoming one of the most greatly remembered and sought-after sailing yachts in the world.

Her design was inspired by Cinerama, which was a widescreen process that simultaneously projected three separate images on to a single screen with a curvature. The intended effect of this was to offer a 180˚ view for the audience. The Riva Aquarama has successfully incorporated this design feature by using a wrap-around windshield. The 8 and a half metre hull was sheathed in mahogany and varnished to give a truly beautiful and authentic look. She is extremely fast and manoeuvrable with a retractable convertible roof giving her the nickname the Ferrari of the boat world. A true spectacle, the Riva Aquarama is one of the greatest designs in nautical history and this model yacht has accurately replicated these stunning design features.
